Primary 1 is the first step of the PSLE journey. Children move from counting objects to working with numbers up to 100, learning number bonds, and making sense of addition and subtraction. Simple model drawing starts in Primary 1, giving children a visual way to see how the numbers in a word problem fit together. The habits and understanding built in these early years become the base for every topic that follows, all the way to Primary 6.

Primary 1 is where children start building the habits they will use for the rest of their primary years and beyond. We start with hands-on learning, so they have something solid to build on in the years ahead:
Number bonds and place value are the building blocks of every calculation in primary school. Many students struggle with maths all the way to Primary 6 because these early ideas were memorised rather than understood. We build that understanding now, so it can carry them through to PSLE.

Every Ms Tabby's Math lesson follows a proven four-step structure that builds deep mathematical understanding. Developed by our founder with over 19 years of classroom experience.
Logic — Every lesson begins with conceptual understanding. We use bar models, visual tools, and concrete examples so your child understands WHY a method works.
In practice: Before teaching any procedure, we ask: Does this make sense to you?
Equation — Once the logic is understood, students learn to express it mathematically. From number sentences in P1 to algebraic expressions in P6, we build equation fluency.
Application — Scaffolded practice moves from guided to independent. Carefully sequenced questions that increase in difficulty.
Patterns — The highest level of mathematical thinking: recognising patterns across topics. Essential for PSLE success.
