Fix topics before exams
The September holiday is the last clean stretch of time before the year-end exams. We use it on the few topics that carry the most marks — and that quietly get harder next year if they are left unfixed.
Fractions and Decimals take up a large share of the P4 year-end paper. Getting them steady moves the grade more than anything else your child can revise this holiday.
Next year's syllabus assumes this year's is secure. A shaky P4 fraction sense becomes a P5 struggle; a shaky P5 one becomes a PSLE problem. Fixing it now is far less work than fixing it later.
Once school resumes it is revision, remedials and papers all the way to the exam. This is the only stretch left where a child can slow down and actually understand a topic rather than rush through it.
These are the topics where we see the biggest gaps — and they carry heavy weightage in the year-end paper. Left alone, they snowball into next year's syllabus.
One topic a day. Each two-hour lesson follows our LEAP framework — concept first, then worked examples, then independent practice with feedback before your child leaves the room.

Mon 7 Sept
Finding factors and common multiples reliably, and knowing which one a question is actually asking for, and heuristics questions covering this topic — the groundwork for everything later in the week.
Tue 8 Sept
Mastering the part/whole concept. If foundations are not properly fixed, they snowball later to become even harder to fix in upper primary.
Wed 9 Sept
Fractions II is the application of heuristics skills in fractions word problems - when to use model drawing and branching model.
Thu 10 Sept
Mastering rounding off and conversion between fractions and decimals — where most students struggle — along with heuristics skills.
Fri 11 Sept
Applying heuristics skills to multi-step decimal word problems, money, and measurement conversions.
Small enough that our teacher checks every child's working during the lesson, not after it. A class runs with a minimum of three.
